I've read that slabs have a life of somewhere around 7 years. Can anyone tell me why that is? Also, does a re-slab effect the grade? Thanks!

From what I recall, it's not a steadfast rule that one must change out the microchamber paper. Rather, it's suggested that it be changed every seven years
