It is, indeed - Airboy originally debuted in a GA series called "Air Fighters Comics" (lated renamed to Airboy Comics) which was mighty popular during WWII. Eclipse relaunched the series in 1986 with a much more modern age look & feel, and with Airboy now being the son of the original character.
