Watchmen - next question.

 

Longevity should never be confused with quality, as the two are mutually exclusive. That's like saying George Burns in the best actor in the history of cinema just because he lived to be 100.

 

While it's hard to disagree with the bolded part above, it's about a million times more difficult to maintain quality, consistency and character development over hundreds of issues than it is over one 12 issue storyline. It's not a like comparison at all.
