There is the gaming pavilion and I believe a video games contest as well.

I saw once guy in the Paradise comics booth scoop in and buy over 200 $3 books 20 minutes into the 20.

They say attendance for Friday were higher than last years Friday and online ticket sales where higher as well.

It seems like a steady stream of people.

Now I hope my ION cover will be there Today

price definately kept me away. without reading about it on here, i wouldnt even have known about it, havent seen any local press or anything whereas fanexpo is everywhere in its buildup.with the mag stopping, i dont think many know about this.

and as nice as the direct energy place is, it does seem like a pain for some reason to get to compared to the MTCC.

I was shocked to have to pay $38 for a one day pass. An increase from $25 for not buying in advance?? Come on now. Atleast my son was free. I opted for the 3 day pass for an extra $20 although I see no reason to go back. I don't see this show surviving. If ticket sales increased it was only in anticipation of building on last year.

Though I had fun at the show, and found it pretty successful on a personal standpoint (with the exception of overspending in total), this definitely was not a three day show. For me, it was a day and a quarter (though I stayed for a day and three-quarters).

I'm more of a sketch collector, than I am a comic collector, so I was able to get sketches from most that I wanted to. The ones that I didn't get sketches from, though I had originally planned for, I cut out myself, to get sketches from other people.

I do agree, there wasn't many comic dealers. Most dealers that had comics, also had a bunch of toys and random other stuff.

My only problem with the show, was that I heard the uncensored version of Jay-Z's "Big Pimpin' " playing fairly early in the afternoon. I like that song, but all that swearing, not something I would play at this show, with kids around. Actually, I found the music selection pretty crappy.

Though, this doesn't really bother me, one booth was selling some porn movies. They are the ones that are comic book related. They were behind the booth (on the wall), and not accessible by fans. Just something I wasn't expecting to see there.

Was keown sketching or taking commissions?

And he was fully booked within 10 minutes of the show opening. People were lined up 3 hours before the show opened. Mitch Breitweiser was beside him and I was able to be 1st in his line.

The kicker is the people in line for Keown were talking about how many sketches they had from him and who was 1st, 2nd etc....."this time". Seems like they follow him from convention to convention.

I really gotta say on the record that $33 is too much money for a one day pass to a show like this.

I'm going but I resent the price.

You think that is bad, I bought a three day and I can't see any reason for me to make the long trek for another day after what I saw at the show today. :(

Yeah, I did the same. I got there just after 4pm and was done by 5pm, and that included a half hour chat with Wes.

You know a show is bad when even 1,000,000 Comics bails on it. He had a booth with a sign on it, but it was empty, and by 4:30 someone had taken the sign down.

There were fewer dealers at WWTO than at the 1-day HobbyStar shows at MTCC.

• Wes with 2 tables instead of his usual 6+ tables.

• Paradise with about 10 tables, but mostly the same $2-3 books they brought last year.

• A couple of booths that appeared to me to be private collectors who decided to try their luck selling at a con. One had a bunch of upper mid-grade slabs, the other had a random assortment of silver raw.

• Did I miss anyone? Pendragon had TPBs and HCs.

I feel like I should go back on Sunday just because I have the 3-day pass. But I can't think of a good reason why I'd go.

PREDICTION: WWTO won't be back next year.

:(

It will be back next year.

They already booked the convention hall

last weekend of March

I wonder if they are booking the same hall as this year or last year?

Last years hall was almost twice as large (80%) and if they truly did have bigger crowds , not just the same size or smaller in a smaller room, I would expect them to upsize back to last years one.

I'm sure ticket sales this year were decent given last year's show was good. Next year's ticket sales should suck making 2013 in doubt.
