Pedigree Comics, Inc. Sells Tales of Suspense #39 in 9.4 for Record $147,500!

1 post in this topic

BREAKING NEWS!! Pedigree Comic's President and CEO, Doug Schmell has just brokered deals for three major Silver Age keys in CGC certified high grade, all for record prices. The three books, all sold to the same buyer, came from two separate collections and include a Tales of Suspense #39 (origin and first appearance of Iron Man) in 9.4 with off-white pages, an X-Men #1 in 9.2, similarly with off-white pages and a Journey Into Mystery #83 (origin and first appearance of Thor) in 9.0 with off-white to white pages.

The Tales of Suspense #39 sold for a whopping $147,500; the X-Men #1 went for $60,000 and the Journey Into Mystery #83 fetched $39,500. Each sale shattered the previous highest sale price for each book in that grade. Amazingly, all three prior record sales were made by Pedigree Comics in one of our Grand Auctions: The same copy of TOS #39 9.4 selling for $114,990 in our November, 2009 Grand Auction; an X-Men #1 in 9.2 closing at $55,000 in our January, 2010 Grand Auction and the same example of JIM #83 in 9.0 bringing $35,000 in the April, 2010 online auction!

The buyer, a high grade collector who loves Silver Age keys, had contacted us about purchasing some investment grade books, all #1 and first appearance issues. After contacting some of our clients, many who had purchased these keys off of our site and in the auctions, I was able to convince two of them to part with their treasured books. After back and forth telephone calls and emails, a deal was reached on each book. The guy who had bought the Tales of Suspense #39 from me agreed on the $147,500 purchase price and the collector who sold both the X-Men #1 and Journey Into Mystery #83 accepted $99,500 for the pair; $60k for the X-Men 1 and $39.5k for the JIM 83. Both the buyer and the sellers are very pleased with the deal. The buyer finally found gorgeous copies of the key early 1960’s Marvels he has been looking for while the sellers made significant profits on their initial purchases.

If you have any comic books to sell or consign, do yourself a favor and contact Pedigree Comics or check out our website at www.PedigreeComics.com. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, concerns, etc. about how to get the most amount of $$ for your treasured books, either by sale or consignment, please contact Mr. Schmell, at (561) 422-1120 or (561) 596-9111 or by email at DougSchmell@pedigreecomics.com. Pedigree Comics has been involved in the sales of more high grade CGC graded Silver Age keys, either by purchase, broker or consignment, than any other dealer and keeps all calls and information confidential.

Consignors maximize their profits selling in Pedigree Comics' Grand Auctions, more so than on any other auction site or auction house. We do not charge a Buyers Premium, an amount that most bidders take into consideration when bidding in other sites (the bidders simply deduct that Buyers Premium amount from their final bidding price, meaning less $$ to the consignor and more to the auction site). The higher the value of your book(s) that sell in a Grand Auction, the more $$ you take home under our Climbing Scale. We consistently set new sales records for Silver and Bronze Age comics in each Grand Auction and our regular site inventory. Our Grand Auctions are unique and exciting, with new and diversified, top-rated CGC material in each event. Why settle for less by consigning with someone else?

Prospective consignors can also upload their own scans, item information, descriptions and reserve amounts for the upcoming May Grand Auction by utilizing the Automated Consignment System. It is actually very easy and fun to do. Just register onto the site, click "Customer Page" under "Your Account" and then click "Consignments" (under "Auctions"). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and upload your own CGC certified books and magazines. We will receive an email notification automatically once you have uploaded the information and we will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The item(s) will then be added to the May Grand Auction to be bid on. You will be amazed how simple it is to utilize the Automated Consignment System.
