Anti-climatic would be an understatement...... :(

Sorry. I'm in a good mood today. :foryou:

Did you really think I'd let a comment like that get a rise out of me? lol

your right dice. you are exactly right.

that said to imply something without saying is about the same as misinterpreting without asking what was meant.

the bottom line is that any person that is cool enough to have evel as their avatar must be ok.

Yeah. But one causes the other. The other doesn't cause the one. :gossip:

Knowing Mark from way before CGC, he has always collected extremely rare golden age books in just about any grade. Stuff that you never see. Stuff that there are probably only 10 - 20 copies of alot of them, and Mark probably has multiples.

I sold him a Girl 3 about 5-6 years ago. Gerber 7, but much rarer...

Is this the one with the Elizabeth Taylor cover? ...it is hard to find. I've been looking for a Girl 3.

Lou and I spent a good portion of the weekend with Mark Haspel. He was in good spirits, had a blast at Megacon from what I saw and is looking forward to the time off.

We hung out Saturday afternon at the B-Liine Diner in the Peabody hotel and talked about and shared low grade comics. When I asked him if he would be interested in selling some Matt Baker books to me for Louise he graciously gave them to her as a gift. Just a terrific hearted guy.

I asked him if I could have first shot at his AF #15 that is going to grade a 9.9 but he has a stack of high grade Avengers #1 that he wants to dump first.

lol

In all seriousness, he's just looking to take a break to reconnect with family and friends and recharge his batteries after being a grader for 12 years.

(thumbs u

I never bothered to ask Mark any of the specifics this past weekend, but he seems to be ready to "get away" for a little while, and do some traveling. He is in the fortunate position of being able to take an extended LOA (how many of us can in our jobs?), and has decided to do so. Good for him, and I wish him the best. (thumbs u

Since the preeminent authority on restoration detection will be out of CGC, does this mean that we're going to see a whole bunch of restores trying to get passed CGC.

I always thought that Chris Friesen was the acknowledged expert when it came to the issue of restoration detection. I thought Mark was more of the specialist when it came to the question of pedigrees.

By any chance, does this mean that he might get to spend some time on the Pedigree book and speed up its publication. Nah....don't think so. If anything, it'll probably slow dow tne process of getting this book out. :frustrated:

Saw this on the Ebay Board, posted by an anonymous person named "Gnatman". Anyone have any more info? He refuses to back up his claims:

"Haspel has been actively buying and selling comics since being employed at CGC, and there is an extensive public record of thousands of these dealings. I assume people are well aware of this, so why is the notice of his becoming even more active in buying and selling news to anyone?"

I've seen him buy dollar books and trades, but selling books would be news to me.

I think the claim is total BS, by the way. And CGC employees should be allowed to buy new comics/TPBs/readers all they want

From what I know of Mark, I would be surprised if there was any credence to the claim.
