How do trades work?

Wondering how trades work on here as I have often see individuals offering slabs for a trade?

 

From my experience I don't see how person A can safely ship out a slab to person B and safely expect them to send the second part of the deal out.

 

If anyone can shed some light LMK

i've done one trade on here for TPB's... checked to make sure they were a member in good standing... each of us provided for shipping....and great communication.... it worked out well for both of us!
