PGM: What is the best grade a book can get with a piece missing?

Wondering what the best grade a book could get if it was missing a small piece from the spine. Assuming everything else is pristine and there are no stains.

all depends on the size as well as the cause.

 

If a small piece missing due to production issue(s), the impact on grade could be minimum but without a pic of the missing piece.....not much we can do really.

hmm....hard to tell from the pic but it could be bindery/production related based on the location...but a much better pic is needed.

use a camera and take a close up shot of that corner

If the book is as cherry as it looks from the scan and the nick is a production defect, it could still remain in NM territory
