Green Lantern #76 Rejected Cover Recreation on eBay

The Cover that Never Was

By Michael Netzer (after Neal Adams)

Neal Adams' first proposal to the classic Green Lantern/Green Arrow #76 cover,

which launched the unforgettable series, was rejected by editor Julie Schwartz

who wanted the more dramatic moment of GA's arrow shattering GL's battery.

Adams went on to change the layout entirely to deliver

the classic cover the series is best known by.

Michael Netzer, one of Adams' more accomplished protoges,

who worked with him for years at Continuity Studios,

delivers a stunning new painted recreation of that original cover sketch,

incorporating into it the dramatic shattering of GL's Battery.

Perhaps one of the more intriguing images of Green Lantern emerging this summer,

hinting at what the original cover might have been if the layout wasn't changed by editor demand.

11" X 17", acrylic and aquarelle mixed media on 360 gr high-quality water color board.

Netzer has recently returned to conventional media after more than 15 years of drawing by computer.

His original art and sketches have been rare and this piece is of the first few offered on eBay.
