Actually, based on the books I've matched up with known CGC copies, his grading wasn't bad at all. Especially when you consider the state of grading at the time. Matt Nelson says much the same thing in his pedigree article.

I'd say 80% of them were undergraded, but I've been told he's been making up for that initial mistake ever since!
