I hadn't paid much attention to Phantom Stranger before, but Neal's PS covers in this round, and previous rounds, are nothing short of spectacular.

This is also the 1st round I've voted for a Marvel cover - Avengers 96!

The only difficult choice for me was between Batman 238 and Batman 241. As much as I think Adams' Batman figure in 241 is excellent, the way it's hovering over the city has always looked wrong to me. (shrug)

Even though Batman's in more of a running pose, 241 just reminds me too much of an Adams Superman cover, like Action Comics 419, out patrolling above the city. The art just doesn't work for me as a symbolic cover - simple as that, no matter how much I look at it. (shrug)

Definitely one of my top 10 favourite early 70s Adams covers.

Following on from a post I made in Round 8....

To me, the figurework / design in Adams' Green Lantern 81 cover looks very similar indeed to that in many of Alex Ross' covers and art prints.

The same idea applies to the Superman 252 cover as well, even more clearly.
