Pedigree Comics' Grand Auction Ends Tuesday Night May 17th!!

1 post in this topic

Greetings from Pedigree Comics’ Grand Auctions. Please accept this post as a reminder that our current Grand Auction ends tonight, Tuesday, May 17th, starting at 7:00 p.m. EST and will end at 11:59 p.m. The auction began the night of Monday, May 9th with 595 great books to choose from in the separate, Grand Auction section of our Web site (www.PedigreeComics.com). Every comic in the auction is CGC graded and there is no Buyers Premium. The minimum bid is $100.00 and most of the books listed in the auction have no reserve.

This Grand Auction is not only one of our best to date, in terms of the amount of fabulous, ultra high grade material, but it stands as one of the best online auction events ever for CGC graded Silver and Bronze Age Marvels and DC’s. There is literally something for every high grade collector and/or investor out there, with sought after comic books ranging in value from $100 to $100,000. We have some incredible runs of high grade books from many significant 1960’s Marvel titles plus many key and investment quality individual comic books and magazines. Here are some of the auction highlights:

*X-MEN #1 IN 9.4 WITH WHITE PAGES AND OTHER HIGH GRADE MARVEL AND DC SILVER AGE KEYS:

Without a doubt, the absolute highlight of the Grand Auction is the incredible 9.4 copy of X-Men #1, a tightly graded Near-Mint comic with SNOW WHITE pages. It is easily the best copy we have ever had at Pedigree Comics and features the origin and first appearance of the original X-Men team. This highly valued issue is only going to increase in demand with the upcoming release of X-Men: First Class in early June, 2011. Trailing only 2 pedigreed 9.8’s (Pacific Coast and Curator) and 2 others in 9.6 (Pacific Coast and Mound City), this beauty is the 5th nicest existing copy of X-Men #1 and is unbelievably fresh and glossy. Amazingly, it is the only X-Men #1 in CGC certified 9.4 to have white pages (and neither of the two 9.6’s do). The book is further characterized by an impressive, bleach white cover, sharp edges and corners, a gorgeous spine and full cover gloss. In addition, the cover is perfectly aligned and displays no defects or wear.

Other Silver Age Marvel keys include the highest graded copy of Amazing Spider-Man #28 in 9.6 (first Molten Man) ; Avengers #4 in 9.4 with white pages (first Silver Age appearance of Captain America); Daredevil #1 in 9.6 (origin and first appearance of Daredevil); Daredevil #1 in 9.4; Showcase #34 in 9.4 with off-white to white pages (best existing copy featuring the Silver Age Atom); Tales of Suspense #39 in 9.0 (origin and first appearance of Iron Man); Strange Tales #110 in 9.2 (first appearance of Dr. Strange) and a beautiful Amazing Fantasy #15 in 7.0 (origin and first appearance of Spider-Man.

*ULTRA HIGH GRADE BRONZE AGE MARVELS:

We’ve got plenty of late 1960’s and early 1970’s Marvels to choose from, including many keys and first appearance issues. Highlights include Amazing Spider-Man #129 in 9.6; Astonishing Tales #25 (first Deathlok) in 9.8; Captain America #100 in 9.6; Captain America #109 9.8; Captain America #117 (first Falcon) in 9.8; Giant-Size X-Men #1 in 9.8; Hero For Hire #1 in 9.8; Incredible Hulk 102 in 9.6; Incredible Hulk #180 in 9.8; Incredible Hulk #181 in 9.8; Iron Man #1 in 9.8; Sub-Mariner #1 in 9.6; Tomb of Dracula #1 in 9.6 and X-Men 94 in 9.6.

*9.4 AND HIGHER RUNS OF SILVER AGE MARVEL TITLES:

There are a bunch of great runs of your favorite 1960’s – 1970’s Marvel titles in CGC certified 9.4 to 9.8 grade. Titles include Amazing Spider-Man; Avengers; Daredevil; Fantastic Four; Incredible Hulk; Silver Surfer; Tales of Suspense; Thor and X-Men. These runs provide collectors with a great opportunity to upgrade on a lower graded copy.

*WORLD’S BEST & HIGHEST CERTIFIED SET OF TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES:

One of the absolute highlights of the auction is the brand new, never before offered consignment of highest graded and best existing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. These comics and magazines were just graded by the CGC earlier this week and will be added to the Auction Listing this weekend in time for Monday’s auction start. Each book is the absolute best existing and highest graded copy of that issue. Included in the listing are issues #1 and #2 of the coveted Gobbledygook, which features the first ever appearance of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the back cover ads on each book. As CGC does not certify issues of Gobbledygook, they will be listed raw. Both copies are in beautiful, unread condition with snow white pages and are easily amongst the nicest copies ever found. The #1 is especially hard to find in any condition, as it was limited to only approximately 50 copies.
