Deja Thoris / John Carter of Mars ** ART DAY **

8 posts in this topic

Here's something I am VERY excited to have acquired. This was one of my absolute favorite John Carter of Mars / Deja Thoris images from when I was reading all the books and comics. I was mesmerized by this painting when it was first published in the 70s. In my opinion, one of the best EVER Mars renderings!

Looking forward to the movie in 2012!

Very, very nice. I remember the image from an old Russ Cochran Art Auction (# 21, July 1985). It was one of 4 Boris paintings being offered at (minimum bid) prices ranging from $3,000 - 5,000. A Tarzan painting sold.

The same catalog featured some Frazetta oils (Uncle Creepy and Gollum) with minimum bids of $4,000 and 6,000 respectively. Neither sold.

Still, a lot of money in those days . . .
