I guess I should have started a new post with this but I'll ask anyway...

What is the #1 Bronze Age Horror/Mystery Books you want to obtain?

Mine is the House of Mystery #174! cloud9.gif

#1 for me right now is House of Secrets 81 in 9.4 or better... But as far as ranges--HOM 174-190 and HOS 81-91 in all 9.4 or better cloud9.gif

slap slap

Oh, back to reality--- FN+ or better it is!

I have ZERO copies, never even read it.... how deprived I am....

BTW, does anyone know where I can get a NM/NM+ copy of HOM 192? The copy I have was sold as NM but I saw a chip in the corner and looks like it has a foxing problem... foreheadslap.gif Another eBay special.

Here's a beautiful HOS 81

Anyone going to bid on it. It's already out of my price range, with 9 days left on the auction!!! Looks to me like a book that will end up in "red's" collection, or on dizney-art's web site!

What do you think? 893frustrated.gif

I am confused by this or maybe too critical? Or not readnig the defects right? I am trying more to get active in grading assessment via scans. Anyway, I see:

Top left corner has a crunch

Several chips along the top edge to the right

Lower left and lower right corner dingles

Would those be in a 9.4 from this age? If so I got some thinking to do!

Actually, I see the LLC ding, didn't see the chips--nice hawk eye there! I don't see the crunch in the ULC confused-smiley-013.gif (EDIT: OK, large scan YES, I see it) I think it is definitely a 9.2 graded on a good day however. Two of the three in the census are from the Pacific Coast pedigree. Does anyone think this book is common in grade as the book in the auction? I never see one available, and when I do, it's maybe VG+ to FN+. It's a tough one (as are all of the Adams covers in that run).

So, pov, I think technically you are right, but it's probably the closest thing to a 9.4 that most folks will see out of this book. I may be proved wrong when collections are sold and subsequently certified, but until then...
