When was the last month & year Stan Lee was Marvel's editor?

I've looked on Wiki and some other web-sites and can't find the date when Stan and Marvel parted ways???

 

Even if I could find the year it would be great help.

Stan stepped down as Editor in Chief sometime in 1972, but was still pretty active with Marvel. He moved to California around 1982 to head Marvel studios, but was still on Marvel comics payroll.

Not sure if that helps.
