I love the art deco style typography Church used in these ads

 

My own favorites are the earlier art nouveau illustrations. It's really neat to follow the trends reflected over his long career. One thing that strikes me as I look through this thread is what happened to Church's reference books. Surely, if you accept the idea that he bought comics for reference, he must also have had an extensive collection of art books. Not that it would have had any market value, but its composition would have told us a lot about him as a person and given clues as to what made him spend so much on comics that he apparently never read. It's too bad that so little is known about an individual who did so much for our hobby.
