Any clues on McFarlane? I've searched and can't seem to find a planned event calendar for him.

 

For that one, you'll likely have to wait for a private signing to be advertised if you want your books SS'd. It's my understanding that lately he hasn't authorized any of the books signed at public/convention signings to be SS'd.

It just means that no one has requested them to be added to the list yet. If they are listed with no dates after their name, then they have been requested but have no known appearances yet.

INFORMATION OF INTEREST:: Planet Comic Con removed. Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo, Albuquerque Comic Expo and Denver Comic Con added, Desert Wind will be attending all three! As best I can tell, Calgary has the entire principal cast of Star Trek the Next Generation, making for a rare opportunity! Jeff Balke appears to be double booked the weekend of June 9-10, in St. Louis and Albuquerque. C2E2 updated, Alex Garner and Peter Kuper cancelled. Wizard World Toronto updated.

I was thinking about removing Don Rosa since he doesn't want anything to do with us.

 

I added wrestling personalities Brimstone and Undertaker, Brimstone has some appearances coming up, but nothing for the Undertaker.

 

There is a Todd McFarlane event coming in August through Desert Wind Comics. I've added it with just the most general information and will add more info as DWC gets it to me.

I agree about removing Don Rosa, I think it's a shame, but if he doesn't want to be involved with CGC, then it's sort of irrelevant to list him :sorry:

 

I don't know that anyone is more disappointed than I am. I spent some time trying to find high grade books for him to sign and wound up spending way too much for them. They're still great books, just not as nice as I hoped to make them.

Also Eastman or Laird? I am dying to get some TMNT books signed. I noticed Eastman is going to be at Boston but CGC isn't going to be present so no go for that one. :eek:

 

I see nothing for Peter Laird anytime soon. :(

 

Any clues on McFarlane? I've searched and can't seem to find a planned event calendar for him.

I do not see why you should take him off the list though. There are people that collect signatures that do not go to CGC. Also I would imagine that if you had your own books signed and just had the CAW watching you then Rosa would not know the books were going to CGC.

I think having the CAW watch from a distance is an ethical violation.

 

I get the side about the books that don't go to CGC but at the same time we're all playing in CGC's sandbox here. If they're not going to benefit from his presence, I don't know that it's worth mentioning it on their site.

 

I don't care one way or the other, but I have already removed him. He didn't have any more appearances lined up yet, but usually turns up at SDCC. If there's enough here that say he should remain, I'll gladly add him back.

Well the CAW wouldnt have to be watching from a distance. I am sure Rosa would just think it was two guys standing next to each other. I have no interest one way or the other but just wanted to throw that out there.

On the Rosa situation. I told him that he could personalize the sketches and that I was expecting that. His words were "If someone wants a sketch they can come here and get it themselves" (I could not help to think that this is less than likely for 99.9999999% of the USA) and something to the effect of 'only sketching for fans' (and again I could not help but think, 'I used to be a fan', since when does picking up a sketch for someone else make me a bad guy? and I am pretty sure these are going to your biggest fans, who would arrange to get a sketch from 1000 miles away).

 

This is why I love this place. I can't make it to the shows and the people here allow me to get sketches and signed items despite the fact that I am trapped in NW Arkansas. I either can't afford the trip itself or can't take the time off of work to go. Either way, I still get to put items in my collection that I wouldn't otherwise be able obtain without paying hefty markups. The odds of me ever attending a show where Frank Miller, Neal Adams, or Joe Sinnott are going to appear are about 0. The odds I can get something from them through the people here? At least 50/50 and usually a heck of a lot better than that. I can say right now that I scored three sketches this weekend for the same price that I would have been lucky to pay to get one of those sketches on eBay. That is thanks to the friends I have here.

 

My lack of ability to make the shows is also a big part of why I try so hard to keep this list up and running. I can't pay you guys back by getting stuff done for you. First of all, I'm not a CAW, second I still can't get to the shows. Instead, I try to make it easy to find anyone you're looking for so that you can plan what to get done and where. It's nowhere near as good as getting out and doing the legwork, but it's what I can do.

 

I fully understand not wanting to see stuff wind up on eBay and such, but at the same time some artists are actually alienating their fans.
