This Crowley example is the second highest graded with only 4 certified by CGC in any grade....

 

$1100 (Guides at $1694 in 8.0)

That's interesting. That's the first time I've seen a Crowley/File copy. I didn't know there was such a thing.

Its hard to pass on a Gerber scarcity 8 issue from almost 70 years ago... especially a nice slabbed midgrade. I'm surprised it made it through the night...but happy it did :grin:

Looks like it was a Fawcett file copy (note stamp on front cover) and William Crowley liked it enough to keep it too. Kinda like two mints in one. Because he was an editior at Fawcett (who printed Master) I can conceive he would be able to have the pick of Fawcett's file copies to convert to his own personal collection.

Contact 11 CGC 8.5... "D" copy with certificate

On this cover, L. B. Cole provides a realistic depiction of a downed Japanese war plane at sea.

Only two other copies of issue #11 have received a higher grade from CGC to date!
