Completed my CASTLE OF FRANKENSTEIN collection yesterday

Yeah, I know. CoF isn't a comic book, but it was a very comic fandom friendly magazine back in the day & my decision a couple of years ago to finally do something about that long held desire of mine to own a complete run of Calvin Beck's original magazine was eventually what led me to return to collecting comics again after a 30 year hiatus.

Before that, I was just continuing to buy/collect FANGORIA ( as I had since issue #1 back in '79 ) & a couple of other genre magazines.

But, one day while online looking at a CoF cover gallery, I decided that I was going to begin ordering the occasional issue & see where it took me.

Well, after a few months, I had a nice stack of them & I knew that I had to have a full run of all 25 issues ( plus the one annual ). Which, caused me to spend a good amount of time on e-Bay searching for old monster magazines. Leading me to branch out into buying old issues of FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND & Marvel's MONSTERS OF THE MOVIES as well.

Which, stimulated all my old collecting desires/habits from when I was a kid three decades back & caused me to begin buying comics again.

So, when CoF #3 showed up in my mail yesterday, completing my collection, I was as happy as pie.

It's something that I've wanted ever since discovering CoF magazine with issue #25 in 1976 when I was 15. Which, unfortunately, proved to be Beck's final issue. But, over the years that followed as I re-read & re-read that single issue, I poured over the back issue advertisement countless times & daydreamed about someday owning them all...

And, now, I do.
