Barnes & Nobles has an even bigger selection of comics!

I stopped by the Manchester bookstore Barnes & Nobles today, and almost fell over when I saw about or a little over a hundred of newsstand comics before me on a giant bookshelf. Usually twenty or less get the spinner rack treatment at isolated places.

 

Borders had a healthy selection up to this point ( ), but the variety of Marvel and DC titles was jaw-dropping in this place. All the Spider-mans, Captain Americas, Batmans, etc. Even the Fear Itself Arcs had some newsstand variants available.

 

 

Has anyone else noticed this?

I have heard they are scaling back on it as it has proven to be a disaster financially for them...

As I compared the other magazine genres, it was just weird to see more floppies in one place than tattoo, Maxim-type ( ) or younger folk's fashion magazines. I thought comics were coming back to the mainstream.
