Which comics are way underpriced ?

252 posts in this topic

Watching the auctions, imo the feeding frenzy level on SA auctions for the 5 major ongoing titles would go:

1) ASM

2) FF (CLOSE 2nd)

3) X-men(pretty close 3rd)

4) Avengers (DISTANT 4th)

5) DD( VERY distant 5th)

Again, i'm not questioning the superiority of Spidey but it still seems to me like X-men 1 is a pretty underpriced book in the 7.0-9.0 range imo (shrug)

It's because it is treated pretty much like any other #1.

The characters that were introduced are meh.

Beast = okay your a hairy guy with muscles

Cyclops = okay you shoot a red beam out of your eyes

Marvel Girl = need I say more

Xavier = okay you can read minds

None of them are cool like Spider-man.

The team always changed and every other issue was a new mutant. rantrant

I can see your point BUT you're forgetting 3 other 1st appearances in that book, Angel, Iceman AND Magneto. The rest may be pretty zzz but nobody can tell me that Magneto isn't bad to the 10th degree! rantrant

Angel = I can fly

Iceman = pretty cool

Magneto = True, not a bad character, I would agree with you

Hey, i'll admit i'm biased. When i was a kid, i thought the Dark Phoenix saga was probably the coolest, most awesome story that could ever be in a comic book so i even think Cyclops and Jean Grey are pretty cool (thumbs u

I never cared of Cyclops. Not sure if they ever did it 'cause I've been out of the loop for so long, but I always wanted them to make a Jean Grey who can control her Dark Phoenix powers and keep her sanity. That would be a cool solo character.

It's true Magneto is a very cool character, but not "bad to the 10th degree!".

Not like Dr. Doom

or Thanos

or Galactus

or even Ultron or Loki...

But still, a key character in the Marvel pantheon.

Magneto= WAY cooler than Dr.doom

Magneto= not even close to Thanos's badassness(who is?!?)

Magneto= WAY cooler than Galactus

Magneto=Not even close to Ultrons badassness(again, who is?!?)

Magneto=WAY cooler than Loki (Loki?!? Is that a joke?!?)

Can you tell I love the X-men and Avengers but hate the FF??? lol

Disagree here dont think its undervalued at all.

Lower printed yes and tougher to find, but not undervalued.

I totally disagree. Not only low print, but first appearance of a popular character and you can get a CGC 9.8 for $150 or less. I've seen CGC 9.8 variants of meaningless comics go for more.

So what exactly was the print run on NYX #3? I've been picking up 1st appearances of modern characters pretty cheaply but this issue that is still very modern I haven't been able to find even raw for under $90.

To be honest I don't know the print run. I was just assuming Fastball was correct. I'm surprised you can't find a raw one under $90, since you can buy CGC 9.8 copies for $125-150. Hell for 90 bucks you can easily buy a CGC 9.6 copy.

I am not disagreeing this book is selling well lately and will continue to sell well in the near future. I just dont think its undervalued and really unless there is some push by Marvel I see it becoming the next Uncanny 266. Hot for a few years then stagnant. The only difference would be a lower print run. This character isnt Deadpool and until it can carry titles like that character can I dont think it deserves the money its getting right now. If I had copies I would be flipping now. BTW you can get VF/NM to NM copies for $50-70 right now just not on ebay. Look around.

Really if NYX does hold its value then Wolverine Origins 10 should be a blockbuster in a few years as well. It seems to follow the same logic with a slightly higher print run.

Ha, I got Wolverine Origins #10 for like $6-$7 raw. I was buying 1st appearances (1st Deathstoke, John Constantine, Spider-Woman, etc.) up until I got burned on eBay on an ASM #300 that ended up having a water-damaged cover. After that incident I decided to stop buying individual comics that cost more than $20.

I just found it surprising that X-23's 1st appearance just smokes Daken's by a wide margin in the resale market.

And, if you are lucky, you can find a copy of NYX #3 REAL cheap. I found my copy amongst the drek at Vintage Stock. I paid around $2.50 for it. Although it's not a 9.8, I'm guessing it's in the 9.2-9.6 range (I should find out for sure soon as I just submitted it a few weeks ago for grading).
