  1. Seriously, this a LOT for cgc to expect us to swallow! Two out of three times it's in a blue label, now without even looking at it again, it's DEFINITELY trimmed. Oh and don't get me started on the "the new owner just wanted this book for his collection forever so he's keeping it". Seems more than a little odd that there's be a fairly expensive walkthru resub on a book he just wanted for his collection and instead of explaining the situation himself, a "friend" with 0 posts is speaking for him Hey, what do I know? Kudos on your resto checks CGC
  2. As someone who only sells CGC'd books on his website I'd say you're hardly unbiased. Staus quo much? Not the status quo...just a realistic approach to an unrealistic expectation. The fact that people here expect perfection from an imperfect product is laughable. The only thing I agree w/in this entire thread is that CGC has a responsibility to handle the situation correctly...and that's on them and only them. Its not the responsibility of this community to determine what they should or shouldn't do..and casting stones before all the information is available is not only ignorant, but shows true colors by many. Take it for what you want...if a mistake was made, is it the end of the world? No...my power still comes on, my fridge still keeps my food cold and I still have a roof over my head.. Its shameful all these first world problems us comic collectors and dealer's have... No one expects perfection. That's not the problem here. Are you honestly gonna tell me that this major SA key, with distinctive faults that a stink was made about and was talked about and shown To everyone in the building with grading credibility wasn't recognized a month later when resubbed? I don't believe that for a second Here's the thing: when faced with multiples of something you don't really have a vested interest in; you forget about it. For example, I work in I.T. and users, unasked, give me their passwords all the time. I have trained myself to forget them, instantly; otherwise, I would literally have hundreds of useless passwords wondering around in my poor abused brain. Unless the book is a true rarity like Double-Action Comics, these graders probably forget the book before they even leave the building for the night. That may be true however I doubt it considering the stink made over this book a month earlier and it's distinctive faults. What makes me REALLY doubt it was myself being flat out told my Avengers 4 was remembered MANY months later and WOULD be remembered if I tried another resub!
  3. Now THATS what I missed!!! If I can just get a "suck it Jason" now from greggy, all will be right with the world!
  4. I hate to sell books and only do so on rare occasions...ask a few of my boardie friends, they make fun of me because of my attachments. (thumbs u to everyone ! It's nice to know collectors still exist. C'mon man! You KNOW I'm a collector! Provided of course the book is white pages and not some ow/w nonsense! Churn and burn that garbage!!! And for the record, that's just a joke between bomber and I before all the PQ doesn't matter guys freak out (thumbs u Good to have you back ! Thanks brotha!!! I missed this place!

  6. There are 3 ways you will EVER see my Avengers Peds for sale 1) a unbelievably unforeseen life changing event 2) my son selling them after I die 3) my ex somehow getting her hands back on them
  7. I'm not sure what's more disturbing, the idea that this book got preferential treatment based on the new submitter or the idea that in the attempt to cash in on Con sig series grading, CGC can't reliably grade books sent to their facility during Con season. Those seem to be the only two logical conclusions based on the facts later out and neither are good for cgc's reputation (thumbs u

  9. Well let's see here. Either this book was sent in as a "shot it the dark" and somehow "everyone in the building with grading credibility" changed their minds 6 weeks later or it was sent in with a phone call explaining the previous blue label and the desire to have that back. I know which one I'm betting on
  10. This was no "shot in the dark"! I GUARANTEE you that this book was resubbed with a full explanation of its previous blue label by someone big enough to have confidence that CGC would change back the label with a wink and a smile. It's not the 1st time. It'll be very interesting to see when and where this book ends up for sale because it certainly wasn't bought as a "keeper" by a collector. The book would be very easy to sell on ebay to someone who wouldnt have a clue about any of this. Just price it slightly aggressively and it would sell in less than a day. Considering the profit margin on CGC's screw up, he's got lots of room to make tons and move it almost instantly. I have a feeling that won't happen as that would reveal who owns and resubbed the book. Again, I have a feeling that info is NOT going to come to light Does anyone here REALLY think this book was resubbed by some Joe Schmo boardie that you'd be like "who's that guy? Never heard of him???" This book will be sold either privately or thru one of the auction houses

That's a pretty big GUARANTEE. And a heck of an accusation. Dan I'll just say this, after my Avengers 4 situation, I received enough info from boardies that are BEYOND trustworthy that makes me 100% confident that's what happened.

  13. This might be true if the label stays with the book the whole way. It does not. I would be very surprised if review books were treated any different than a new submission. The point is to grade the book in front of you with no outside influences. That may be the point that that's NOT what happens plenty of times
  14. Hey, it's only a major key with a distinctive fault that was talked about and shown to EVERY grader in the building! Why would that ring a bell a whole 6 months later! I'd bet anything on exactly what happened on this last regrade (thumbs u
  15. Believe me, that is NOT their biggest flaw right now, not even close!
  16. 'If' this is the case, CGC was duped by the submitter = not CGC's fault. It's been pretty obvious the past few years that some submitters are gaming the system. This would simply be another example. Another thing I don't understand, why would the new owner show this to Dan ? He must have realized there would be some consequence. We really need to find out who the submitter is. The book was sold via PM. I would bet the house the new submitter was NOT some average joe and someone that sends cgc a LOT of business
  17. The purple label 7.0 was graded before the blue label 6.0. Plus, why would anyone want to go to the expense for a setup? There's really nothing to be gained other than bad press and the CGC certainly doesn't need anyone's help in that regard. What really confuses me are the grade dates. Only several weeks apart. This book and all the hoopla had to be fresh in their memories. You'd have to be completely incompetent for not a single CGC employee to go, "Hey isn't this the comic we just had all the....." And how did it get graded so quickly. If you factor in the shipping times from CGC to customer, customer sells it to next person, then customer shipsback to CGC... that has to take awhile. How did this book get graded so fast? Did someone pay for a walkthrough? This "fresh in their memories" argument is VERY interesting to me!!! As many of you know and remember my Avengers 4 CPR fiasco. Originally a 9.2, regraded to a 9.0 and then regraded again to a 8.5. These resubmissions were like 6 months apart or longer and Avengers 4 is a VERY common book! After the last submission, Harshen basically told me in no uncertain terms that I should be happy with the final 8.5 grade and NOT attempt another resub as one grader had it as a 8.0 and this book would DEFINITELY be remembered and most likely drop in grade again if I did. Somehow my Avengers 4 with nothing whatsoever to distinguish it from the MANY other Avengers 4 subbed every year would DEFINITELY be remembered but a JIM 83 with a very distinctive fault and a stink made about it wasnt remembered a month later?!? This is EXACTLY the kind of nonsense that erodes confidence in cgc and makes people VERY justifiably worried about the special treatment some high volume submitters or connections receive when submitting their books! How this book was not remembered but I was at out told my Avengers 4 would DEFINITELY be remembered over a year after submission is not only baffling but sketchy as hell IMO!
  18. Sorry man! I hate that! Still, $830 ain't bad if it was a actual NIB. You shoulda pulled the trigger
  19. This guy has a room dedicated to statues of that scale...in addition to the rest of his "normal sized" collection. Check out that Galactus you were asking about being dwarfed in the corner of the room: Wow! Those are HUGE!!! I have the Sideshow Great Ultron statue. It's pretty damn big and dwarfs my Bowens, even the big ones like Giant Man. As much as I LOVE Ultron, I almost regret buying it because its a pita to display. That Ultron isn't even half the size of this Doom one!!! I just can't buy statues that are the same size as my 11 1/2 year old!!! One thing I keep forgetting is that I don't have a comic collection or collect anything else really, so as big as these things are, I can find the space. That being said, 1/2 scale is too much for me, both in terms of price and space. 1/4 scale (like your Ultron) is about perfect for me, because you get the detail and presence for a lot less real estate and a lot less dough. Wait!!! You dont collect comics brotha?!? Yeah, if I didn't have two book cases filled with 800 slabs and another 20 long boxes of raws filling my comic room, I'd have room for WAY more MsMarvel booties!!!

  21. 4 feet tall?!?!? What the hell!!! That's the same size as my dang kids!!!
  22. COI, did you get the Sideshow Galactus? That thing is awesome and I don't even like Galactus! It's just so freaking big though! I can't justify spending almost a grand on something I don't have room to display no matter how cool it looks.
  23. I'll vote for a very specific theme. Off the top of my head, I'd say something like MsMarvel booties??? I'm at 5 and counting
  24. Ummmm, there BETTER be a sweet whale tail hiding in the back if that statue Cahokie!
  25. Best $800 spent EVER! Look at it this way buddy, you're spending a couple hundred to look at freaking Venoms , why not spend a little more to have THAT
