Incredible Hulk #1 (2011) What did you think?

14 posts in this topic

Just read the relaunch of the Hulk by Jason Aaron and Marc Silvestri. I really like Jason Aaron as a writer. His current run on Punisher Max makes it feel like Garth Ennis never left. The new storyline set up with Hulk and Banner is intriguing enough to give it a few more issues.

However, the art in my opinion, is kind of crappy. I remember Silvestri being much better than that. Everything looks rushed inside the book, as if Marc just quickly sketched some figures lacking detail and left it up to the inkers to make it look good. But even the ink job looked rushed, and the backgrounds lacked any real detail. Hulk looks more like Bernie Wrightson's Frankenstein with a beard. Doesn't at all feel "polished."

And the cover is terrible! Veins everywhere!

Any other Hulk fans have an opinion?

Storyline was reasonable...art did look a little rushed,..I too was expecting the art to look more like his contributions from the past. I gave it a 7/10..I will probably pick up # 2

Side note...7 covers..really...really!!!..I'm having ASM collecters cold sweat!!!

I was also expecting the sketch covers to really shine but the detail seemed to be missing with the exception of the over-use of veins!!

Personally I like the "rushed" look better. It's grittier than the other clean versions.

+1 (thumbs u , agree with Godofthunder

Everyone has their opinions of course and I personally like the new look

Thse two pages looked pretty good to me. He's trying a little different style, less detail on the action sequences, trying to show movement, more painterly than illustraterly...the darkness/hulk page shown from 2004 is a pose shot...in the real world fight things would get a little blurry
