For the longest time, I would track variant prices by hand. I used to use hand written sheets and excel spreadsheets. As I tried to track more and more data, I guess I got lazy, and instead of writing it down, or saving it on something computerized, I was content to just post it online over there with the intent to go back and be able to mine whatever information I would need.

For a long time while the board was down, I continued to track prices. When I was informed that a ton of data and posts, research and discussion was lost, I quit. I think I took the loss of that data personal. It was alot of time, but I had enjoyed it, and thought that whatever I was tracking could be used, by someone.

I still do not think I am over it.

Thumb drives my friend.

But honestly you never thinks its going to happen to you lol

Someday, I'll have to get up there and we can have lunch and talk about dogs.

:cloud9:

Speaking of...this afternoon, I was taking a nap, and I dreamed about the dogs. We were going for a walk, and it lasted a while. Couple things happened in it, nothing major, just dream stuff.

Then I woke up, and in a split second, looked at Casper and though "wait..who's that?"

Because I'd been dreaming about Puccini....

It's nice to know that he still lives in my dreams.

Been almost two years, and I still think about him all the time.

We now have three dogs. All rescue dogs. Two from the pound and one from my GFs family.

A 190 lb Saint Bernard,a Border Collie/lab mix and a Border Collie.

One of the coolest thing ever happened when I lost Barkley.Royce/Toast called and offered me a new dog that he was going to keep.Just figured I need him more than his family at that time.

I have about 10 dics of barkley on his last day.I look at them every now and then.Kinda smiling despite the tears still.

I would love to meet up.We could go to Steelhead and you could meet the Oregon crew :cloud9:

I look at Casper, and I think "who could have EVER dumped this silly, wonderful dog off at the pound?" Then I remember the 15 hoses chewed through, plus the 30 hardcovers shredded, and I know. lol

But still...how anybody could ever just dump an animal off that they accepted into their home...it just boggles my mind.

I really, really need to post some vids. I finally got a digital cam this year that takes vids, and I've been taking shots of Penny and Casper playing. :)

I am not sure I can adequately explain it as I am not tech savvy.

If I remember the events correctly, the board started getting bombarded with porno spam, and a bunch of other nasty things. Over the course of a very short time the board went down, and everything was lost. James (stlcomics) was able to restore the boards from a backup that was made before the software upgrade a year or so earlier.

Besides the lost data, the boards being down a long time, then numerous other technical difficulties, most people just moved on.

I thought James did a great job with just building that site on his off time. Roger, Harry and Terry did a bang up job building a strong database for unique varaints.

I try to point alot of people there over the years. The spam bombs killed the site. James brought it back up, but it just never recovered I dont think. It can still be good again. Roger, Terry and Harry taught me everything about variants from that website I will be forever in their debt.

All that data you collected was a big let down. Hell I still look for a horkorp begin bid when I see a variant now on ebay. Ah the variant mafia was fun stuff.

So I was cruising around the St Louis forums(I was out of my mind bored) and what do I see.On the front page of a section a question about what people thought of the Matrix.Yes that Matrix.Just made me chuckle.

At one time it was a cutting edge site. I guess people lost interest in the variant scene :(

It really didnt take much to get banned there. If you wernt part on the in crowd you were gone.

That is such BS, and you know it. Same as this board, using multiple shill accounts would get someone kicked.

Honestly, I don't understand why you can't leave it alone. You do realize most threads, here and STL, are still up? There's probably even RStarz posts still around, going back to Comicspriceguide forum. Why dredge it all back up if you want it to go away?? (shrug)

Anyway, James ran STL as a very welcoming forum, but did keep control of it. No different than the Mods here do. (thumbs u

That is where we will have to disagree.

But have a good night. (thumbs u
