Original Owner "New York State Collection" in Pedigree's January Grand Auction!

1 post in this topic

BIG NEWS!! The consignments are continuing to come in for our upcoming January Grand Auction, scheduled to begin in just over one week on the night of Sunday, January 8th, 2012 and last for ten (10) days until the night of Wednesday, January 18th. The auction will have a few hundred choice high grade CGC certified Marvels and DC’s from the Silver and Bronze Ages plus a new consignment of high grade Golden Age DC’s, Timely’s and other publishers, many from the famed Mile High Collection. The sooner you consign your books the more exposure and press they will receive. Pedigree aggressively promotes and advertizes each Grand Auction on many online sites and trade publications and we also send periodic newsletters to all of our over 18,000 customers announcing the individual auction items. There is no Buyers Premium on any of the lots in the auction and most of the books will have no reserve. Every book is CGC graded and the minimum bid is only $100. You can check out over 250 books right now in the Auction Preview at http://www.PedigreeComics.com.

The latest consignment is a very significant one. It comes from the private collection of an artist who worked for both DC and Marvel. He began as an inker in the early 1980’s for DC (around 1982) and then shortly thereafter for Marvel. In the later years he worked for Dark Horse, Valiant and Topps. At DC he was the inker on various mystery titles plus Tomahawk and Challengers of the Unknown (in which George Tuska was the penciler). For Marvel, he worked on Crazy (magazine), Defenders, Powerman and Iron Fist and especially G.I. Joe, A Real America Hero (he inked almost every issue from #27 through #63), G.I. Joe Special Missions, Vision and the Scarlet Witch, Barbie plus a few issues of Amazing Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man and a Spider-Man Graphic novel. For Dark Horse he inked the first Droids series, Indiana Jones, Young Indiana Jones and Aliens. He also was the inker for Valiant’s Zelda/Link adventures and for Topps’ Zorro and his career ended in 1997.

He began collecting comics in the early 1960’s, concentrating on the Marvel superhero titles. All of the books in his collection were bought first hand in New York State, initially in Scarsdale (Westchester County) and later on in New York City (hence the name “New York State Collection”). He purchased them from local news stands, read each book carefully and then stored them in his bedroom closet. After a few years they were put into polypropylene bags. He also collected DCs, Warren magazines, Heavy Metal, Atlas, Tower, comic strip collections, etc. This non-Marvel portion of his collection is still in storage and will be consigned to Pedigree Comics in the near future.

The January Grand auction will contain only the high grade issues from his runs of Marvel titles. The titles include the most popular ones such as Amazing Spider-Man; Avengers; Daredevil; Fantastic Four; Journey Into Mystery; Sgt. Fury; Tales of Suspense; Thor and X-Men. There are strong runs of these titles with many books in the 7.5 to 8.5 range plus many in 9.0 to 9.6! Only the high grade copies will be debuting in the auction as the remaining books from the collection will be available in the New Arrivals and For Sale section of the site. Every book will be listed in the auction without a reserve. Here are some of the highlights of this recently certified collection:

Make sure to check this space and the Pedigree Comics website next week for the new announcement and latest additions for the auction, including an Amazing Spider-Man #5 in 9.8 that was just consigned to us!

We will continue to accept consignments for the auction, even after the auction commencement, until midnight on Tuesday, January 10th, so check the site (www.PedigreeComics.com) for consignment instructions and get your books in now.

If you have any questions or comments about the consignment process, any of the auction lots or about the Grand Auction in general, as well as how to consign your CGC graded books for Pedigree’s January Grand Auction, please contact Pedigree’s CEO and President, Doug Schmell, at (561) 422-1120 (office) or (561) 596-9111 (mobile) or by email at DougSchmell@pedigreecomics.com. For any financial related and consignment payment questions, please contact Pedigree's CFO Lisa Shapiro at Lisa@pedigreecomics.com and for any technical related questions or concerns, please contact their Web Master at WebDesigner@pedigreecomics.com.

Consignors maximize their profits selling in Pedigree’s Grand Auctions, more so than on any other auction site or auction house. We do not charge a Buyers Premium, an amount that most bidders take into consideration when bidding in other sites (the bidders simply deduct that Buyers Premium amount from their final bidding price, meaning less $$ to the consignor and more to the auction site). The higher the value of your book(s) that sell in a Grand Auction, the more $$ you take home under Pedigree Comics’ Climbing Scale. We consistently set new sales records for Silver and Bronze Age comics in each Grand Auction and on our regular site inventory. Grand Auctions are unique and exciting, with new and diversified, top-rated CGC material in each event. Why settle for less by consigning with someone else?

Prospective consignors can also upload their own scans, item information, descriptions and reserve amounts for the January Grand Auction by utilizing the Automated Consignment System. It is actually very easy and fun to do. Just register onto the site, click "Customer Page" under "Your Account" and then click "Consignments" (under "Auctions"). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and upload your own CGC certified books and magazines. We will receive an email notification automatically once you have uploaded the information and we will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The item(s) will then be added to the January Grand Auction to be bid on. You will be amazed how simple it is to utilize the Automated Consignment System.
