Comic book scent

I got a Hulk comic from the 70's and it has a very strong smell to it... not the usual old comic book smell, more like magic marker/ paint fumes... I'm assuming it's the ink or something relating to it. I was wondering if this was a good sign, what causes it, etc. The pages are very white.

Might be moth balls. A/b 15 years ago I bought a collection that was kept in a cedar chest with moth balls. They still smell to this day.

It's definetly not mothballs.

 

I thought I read here once that old books that have been kept very well (like in wearhouse finds) sometimes had a heavy smell to it from the ink in the comic...?

But then I probably could have eaten more... if Litch wasn't such a lightweight... the nerve of that guy, making me eat 3/4 of his dessert...
