The new "Comic Book Covers of The Golden Age 1933-45" shows the cover of KO KOMICS #1

and attributes the cover art to Jack Kirby...has this ever been verified? Do you think CGC would grade KO KOMICS #1 with "Cover by Jack Kirby"?

CGC should note it, if they don't already.

The connection to the Star Spangled panel (and the timing of it which would seem to rule out a swipe) laid out in the second post is particularly interesting, and does seem to make a strong case that there is some Kirby connection.

 

That said, there's obviously an awful lot of someone besides Kirby in there -- but that doesn't necessarily preclude it from being called a Kirby cover. Though I must admit as a Kirby collector myself I've never really thought of it as a Kirby cover -- doesn't quite have the look and feel. That's just my 2 cents obviously, it's a very cool book and an interesting mystery. (thumbs u

The CGC Census shows 14 graded copies of KO KOMICS...would one of the owners let us

know if Jack Kirby is credited for the cover.

JCA was a production studio, individuals working there were not given credit by name, just "JCA".

I know I've seen it on Harvey comics, but not sure what else. I'm not the best resource for GA info, but am trying to learn as there is so much to discover.

There's a Circus Comics JCA cover posted today in the GA forum in the "giraffe cover" thread, so maybe this is more common if you know to look for it.

Just read that JCA stood for JASON COMIC ART...they also provided art for ATOMAN.
