SAGA from Image Comics

yeah pretty funny...anyways from a total print run point of view it should have been, Panzerfaust got quite a bit of scorn in the first few pages....what's fun to read is Chew first few pages and Thief of Thieves.

I'm still trying to pull ToT 1 out of dollar boxes like predicted but must be searching the wrong boxes.

Can someone please recapthe first 438 pages of this thread ?

Hey Thor,how are you mate?

Well there was a book called Saga.

Someone bought it.

They liked it.

Told all their boardie friends.

Every copy sold out.

Turns out it is really really good.

Now its $150 per blue 9.8 slab.

Someone shouts "SAGAH" a lot.

Thats it basically.

Doesn't get anymore accurate than that lol

Thanks Andy ..

All this Saga stuff is interesting, Cool book to read but doesnt seem to lead itself to anything past a cool book...

what were the print runs if I may ask ?

wasnt picking on anyone, made it anonymous in my quote ;).

All the threads are funny like that, I've re-read the Fatale thread all the way through. Branget nailed that one, but then people have quoted him on Saga where he got it wrong.

I am sure I have some funny stuff in the Bedlam thread early on as well. It happens to all of us :D

Thanks Andy again..

My thoughts on various moderns.

Curious on your thoughts :

Revival : cool book lends itself to a TV show well but prob a bad cable show.

Flip value... 6. Read value 7

Saga

Great book and a great story. Leads itself to not much more than a cool book due to production cost and lack of Big Monsters with big balls.

Flip value 8 . Read value 9 . Long term ?

Theif of theives

ok book, but have i not read this story 100 times ?

Read value 6. Flip value 6 Long term opp of TV etc ...

Manhattan Projects

Cool idea and has a real interesting story.

Covers are a b1tch to keep nice. Bad ink.

Read value 9 cause i dont understand it all the time

Flip value 9.

Long term opportunity but hard due to production value

Peter Panzerfaust

I love the story and it has a ton of read value.

But only 25 issues..hmmm.

Will continue to read. BBC opp, but so did Dr who etc

Read value 9

Fast flip 10

Long term flip 6

Bedlam

Too early to tell but kinda insane book. I will read, with the lights on.

Read value 7

Flip TBC

Anyways curious to see what the peeps think ... ?

I like your analysis methodology here (read/flip scores). I'll have to give that some thought...

Cool post, i'll take a stab:

Theif of theives

solid book, not amazing

Read value 7. Flip value 10 - the one that WILL actually be made, will air on AMC back-to-back with WD every week. the true next WD, from the same two (AMC/kirkman) that did it the first time.

Saga

Everyone is reading this, especially in the comic industry. Doing a good job of establishing itself permanently as a must read book. Looks like it will be number 2 to WD for a long time to come, in terms of non-big two sales numbers(primary market)

Read value 9 . Flip value 7 . It shot up very fast in a short period of time, now building on establishing a floor for price before it can make another leg up. if RRPs falter, buy the dip (zerohedge ftw).

Peter Panzerfaust

cool premise, solid read. low print run. lives or dies with the success of the motion comic.

Read value 8. Flip value 9/5. if bbc success leads to real show, cements itself as a low print run modern key.

Bedlam

Mixed reviews, lots of upside, speculators crushed it in secondary market, too much supply, needs to build demand

Read value 7. Flip value 5. The book needs a solid building up of interest with each new issue to sop up the oversupply, then if still popular, flipping can come into play.

Revival

Saga light, strong reader support, excellent material for tv show.

Read value 8. Flip value 7. Seems to be rolling with the punches of ABC ripping it off, if it continues strong without tv, like saga, and the tv does come through, BIG TIME boost.

Hard to argue with much there Thor - I especially agree with ToT as I don't really see what it brings to the table that hasn't been done before?

Manhattan projects I sold ages ago - only had a couple, think about $25 each.

Looks like a poor move, but I didn't really get into the book so I actually don't care tbh.

Saga's print run has to catch up with it sooner or later, but PP,Revival and Bedlam have more to climb (Bedlam has to start!)

Sold my MP as well (kept 2 #1 first prints) - Bedlam will arrive. Revival, climbing as we speak. Saga, here to stay!
