Iron Man & Sub Mariner one shot?

IMSM is the BEST comic book ever printed!

CAL a fan of IMSM...

lol

Now you stop that.

:foryou:

Never read it. :sorry:

Jerel who might be missing sum-thin' gooood...

Two 11-page stories: " The Torrent Without..The Tumult Within" has Iron Man trying to escape the Maggia, who had seized a casino ship. Shellhead has to be wary of Whiplash, who nearly destroyed him in TOS 97 - 98.

"Call Him Destiny...or Call Him Death" has the Origin of Subby's enemy at that time, "Destiny".

Both stories cleverly were continued into their own respective Titles, the following month, May 1968 Issues. Both stories in this IMSM one-shot were penciled by Gene Colan.

Many rumours abound regarding the actual print run of this "one-shot"; the previous print runs of TTA, TOS, etc., were estimated to be approximately 255,000 copies, and the usual 50% were torn and returned to the Distributors for credits.

Several people, far more knowledgeable about comic books have told me that they think 185,000 is the number for IMSM. Iron Man 1 and Subby 1 was back in the 230,000 range.

The "marvel chipping" is prevalent on the back cover, about 1 " from the top left margin edge. The usual "chipping" is 1/8" Length x 1/16" width. Even 2 of the 5 CGC 9.6's have such a chip.

Many copies' Splash page has a vertical "green" line lower right outer-margin; distributors' ink overspray.

VERY FEW copies have the blue, "cyan" colored logo. Not many people recognise this as a "variant" of sorts.

CAL who still has plenty of IMSM...

CAL who still has plenty of IMSM...

CAL, thanks for the education. I appreciated it.

:foryou:

But does all that lead up to IMSM 1 being the greatest comic, ever? It definitely contains two great heroes. I just wasn't sure if the stories were that impactful compared to Tales of Suspense 39 or Fantastic Four 4.

No offense meant to what you appreciate, though.

Wow, that probably leaves one or two thousand copies that you still don't have!

Don't worry, I will get them in time...

CAL who has sold some to make room/raise cash for other projects( other hoardes), but WILL try to get them all!

You know what is funny Cal, you sold me my IM/SM #1 CGC 9.2 off of eBay. I still love that book. I agree that this book is still undervalued in my opinion. It rose a little than 'cooled' off again. I still think it has a LOT of long term potential.

Kind Regards,

'mint'
