Don Markstein RIP

1 post in this topic

There's probably a few people in this section who knew Don or knew of him. I didn't know him personally myself, but I was familiar with his early online endeavors: he was a very active poster on Compuserve in the 1990s, and of course his Toonpedia was one of the first significant comics history resources on the web.

Tom Spurgeon reports that he has passed away after a long illness:

Donald David Markstein was active in fan circles in the 1960s and 1970s, starting with the comics fan community in and around his New Orleans-area high school. He participated in the CAPA-Alpha community; was a member of NOSFA, an officer in the organization and editor of NOSFAn, co-chaired a pair of conventions, was a member of the Sons Of The Sand fandom advocacy group and edited Nola-Zine. He was a productive, prolific fanzine maker.
