The Modern Marvel Reader

481 posts in this topic

I read and caught up with Moon Knight and Iron Fist The Living Weapon this week. I hadn't read anything from either character or knew much about them going in but it was a great way to be introduced to them, more so with Iron First because the first three issue have covered his origin a lot more than Moon Knight.

P.S. I really enjoyed the first three issues of Silver Surfer as well. It hasn't been popular on the boards but I thought they were pretty good so far.

I still need to catch up with these Marvel titles:

Thor: God of Thunder

Hawkeye

Daredevil

Original Sin

The Hulk

Avengers #31 – how does this terrible book ever get published?

Daredevil #4 – still good.

Elektra #3 – mildly interesting.

Original Sin #4 – saved by the last page reveal.

Silver Surfer #3 – a writer I really like and an artist I really like but this book is boring now.

Punisher #7 – pedestrian.

Thor God of Thunder #23 – still very good.

Thunderbolts #27 – so-so.

Uncanny X-Men #22 – still good.

A very bad week.

Amazing Spiderman #3 – dull.

Fantastic Four #6 – dull, into the Original Sin bit kicks in.

Guardians of the Galaxy #16 – still good.

Ms Marvel #5 – somewhat silly.

New Avengers #20 – still poor.

New Avengers Annual #1 – nice art, tedious story.

New Warriors #6 – OK.

Original Sin: Hulk vs Iron Man #1 – poor.

Original Sins #2 – yawn.

Savage Hulk #1 – tedious.

Uncanny Avengers #21 – terrible in every sense.

All-New X-factor #10 – very, very good.

Black Widow #8 – pretty good spy stuff.

Fantastic Four 100th Anniversary Special – another pointless FF story.

Iron Fist the Living Weapon #4 – excellent.

Legendary Star Lord #1 – entertaining.

Magneto #6 – still good.

Moon Knight #5 – minimalism as perfection.

New Warriors #7 – uninspiring.

Original Sin #5 – too many unanswered questions.

Rocket Raccoon #1 – terrible writing meets equally atrocious art.

Punisher #8 – dull.

Thor God of Thunder #24 – superb

The new Rocket Raccoon has perfect 10s so far. Not a huge Young fan, but I'm still gonna get this book.

I enjoyed Rocket Raccoon #1. Smart, snarky, and a hit with the ladies.

I thought it was terrible.

Have you checked out Cyclops? I just started a thread on it. I sort of liked the first two issues and it is a Rucka book.

Should I got back and pick up the Iron Fist books? I thought the first issue was decent enough, but I still had the old Iron Fist book ringing in my head and it didn't seem as good.

Like with most modern comics I think you can only truly perceive the quality of a book when you read a few issues in a row. With iron Fist is started off superbly and then the quality dropped a little for the next 2 issues and is back to being excellent again with #4.

Read the first issue of Cyclops and thought it was dull. Will give #2 a try.
