Years ago... I wish there was a way to make the difficulty even harder... Between Civ II and Civ III I haven't lost a game in a good six years... It's a very pleasant mental exercise in resource management, but it stopped being a game for me long ago...

Diety level is *EASY* for you on CIv III?

Sheesh.... I must REALLY be an insufficiently_thoughtful_person!

lol... no... it's just that the method I use to win at Civ II works even better in Civ III... So unlike most people I didn't have to learn new tricks when III came out... And don't get me wrong, I used to do plenty of caravan stockpiling and spy attacks in II (two of the more broken rule problems). But my basic strategy got even more effective in III...

I still enjoy my time with the program... but it's like knitting a sweater... I know exactly what I have to do, I know exactly what the outcome will be, and it's an exercise in mental focus... The game is a little more challenging if I play a non-Religious, non-Scientific culture... but normally I get a cultural victory long before tanks appear...

I wish Sid would update his Colonization game... That's my favorite of the bunch and I still keep a 68040 PowerMac around just to play it... That game is broken too, but in more entertaining ways. I really enjoy the Revolutionary War when I only have one port city. It makes the early growth more of a challenge but the game cannot be lost if you only have one port city at the time of the Declaration. They can't land troops fast enough to ever take your port city and they can't land troops anywhere else on the map no matter how poorly defended your other towns are... thumbsup2.gif

This is the exact reason I only play multiplayer online games anymore these days--after you play most any game enough, the computer becomes boring to play against once you learn the repetitiveness of its strategy patterns. Did you try playing Civ against other people online? Online gaming is intimidating to most people at first because they're afraid they'll end up playing against some college student who never goes to class and only plays your game all day long online, but that's really an exaggeration...playing online is LOTS of fun once you get into it.

Guide has caught up with this book. I have much rarer Marvels from this era that still get no respect in the Guide.

OH THE HUMANITY!!!!! Im so sorry i asked for a scan now. I appologize to anyone that may have accidentally or intentionally been subjected to reading that cover. sorry.gif

My problem is that I have few scheduled things in my life. And therefore few incentives to get up and go do something else. I know all too well that if I start playing the online versions, I will run my businesses into the ground. I can limit my PS2 play and occasional computer gaming to the same hours I would normally waste watching television, but online play would sit there singing its siren call begging me for "just one more hour"... "come on, you can spare one more hour"... "aw, don't worry about that stuff, I'm right here, just one more hour"...

Ultimately, it's not more fun than food, drink, or sex...and since work is what brings all of those basic pleasures in for non-rich people...you'd eventually get your priorities in order. cloud9.gif

And to think, Marvel cancelled this amazing, avante garde series after only four issues....

of course, its probably a bit of a miracle that it ever made it to four issues. tongue.gif

Its all in the name my boy. If the title had been "Naughty" Night Nurses then they may have had a bestseller in their grasps. Oh well. confused-smiley-013.gif
