Such a cool book - I have a VF copy I bought years ago. This really should be gone by now. 9.0 pre-code crime with a classic Ditko cover for $400 - seems like a solid value to me!

Nice book for a reasonable price IMO.

 

Sort of off topic: This cover has long interested me, regarding "how do you show an explosion?"

 

When I first saw this cover, I though it showed that someone had thrown a firecracker or cherry bomb into the store. But then you see their clothing, evidently blown off by the force of the -- seemingly tiny -- explosion.

 

So I guess we're seeing just the beginning of the explosion? A few microseconds after the kaboom?

I think your assessment is right on. It would seem to me that if Ditko decided to be any more gratuitous with the explosive blast, it would drown out/overpower the graphicness he wanted to depict
