they were probably just submitted without provenance. i am not sure of the procedure to have them coded after the fact. i assume someone or some committee need to conclude it is in fact a pedigree copy.

Please note that the purchase of an uncertified pedigree book from any collector or dealer does not obligate CGC to recognize the book in question as a pedigree copy.

If you are the current owner of a collection that you feel might be a pedigree, CGC is more than happy to discuss the potential pedigree status with you. Please feel free to call and ask to speak to a Pedigree Specialist.

So you just think they are by eyeballing em? Must be a trained professional!

That "SN" is a pretty good indicator. (thumbs u

#10 and #11 are definitely Cookeville copies. Pretty well known collection. I have explained the provenance before on here. Found by Harry Thomas of Nashville, financed by Geppi, several of the books were purchased by Bob Overstreet. Big GA collection, including Captain America #1, and full runs of many titles.

To get a better detail, you can use the search function. Might be a year or so back though.

Dale,

Prolly been covered before, but any idea why CGC doesn't acknowledge the Ped?

Not really. Maybe too much middle grade stuff. You would probably have to ask them. Never posed the question.

Personally, I don't really think it matters. In my opinion, pedigrees don't matter that much anymore, with the exception of the Mile High pedigree. To me, a 9.4 book with great eye appeal and white pages, is equal to another 9.4 book with equal eye appeal, and the same characteristics. I don't understand why anyone would pay significantly more to know who the original owner of the book was. Every book had an original owner at some point.
