This sounds like a good weekend to visit Las Vegas and it's perfect with two shows, the Morrison Con and the Las Vegas Comic Expo, especially with the Morrison Con on Friday 09/28 and the Las Vegas Comic Expo on Sat-Sun 09/29 - 09/30, so fans can go to both shows!

Thats exactly what i was thinking. Lets hope we can get a witness to do both cons, and possibly get cgc to allow them the ability of taking books back and forth between both events for sigs. :gossip:

I think for this MorrisonCon convention is less traditonal sounding than what most comic fans interpret as a convention. It sounds like, for $500 for locals, you get go to some panels, get some signatures, get a few manufactured collectible books, go to a nightclub, and then have breakfast. And for visiting out of towners, add in $200 to the ticket price and you get a hotel room. So, this seems more like an "experience" than a convention in the traditional sense and also it's not like a public party/event, so you're essentially paying money just for the rights to hang out with people who you don't really know, who othewise might not want to hang out with you, if not for paying to get in. Sort of like those Vegas Events where clubs tout "Celbrate Paris Hilton's Birthday at Tao"

if you like that type of scene.

I think with the Las Vegas Comic Expo, happening that same weekend, the suites at the Alexis Park are affordable, the guest list has some of the most down to earth fan friendly artists who you'll probably see on-the-town, possibly hitting the clubs, as well as interacting with other like-minded fans, where you could spend that same $500 money on getting table/bottle service as a VIP at another club, see a Circus de Sole show, enjoy fine dining, or endulge in many other pleasures in life, including shopping.

If you're also simply on a budget, and can't afford $500 for MorrisonCon or it's not your scene, then a family (not "Ages 21 and over only," but open for ALL AGES) and fan friendly alternative is actually at LVCE: http://lasvegascomicexpo.com/

So, for probably under $30, you'll still be able to interact with the creators (and generally you get one-on-one access at the shows, as they're fan friendly and you can get signatures and chat at their tables) and attending panels, as well as shop with exhibitors for hard to find comics, collectibles and get some nice bargains for sale there too.

It sounds like the big draw of MorrisonCon is the after-hours activities, so in theory, fans could spend the day at Las Vegas Comic Expo and the night with MorrisonCon, attending both events.

Too much money...

Once I saw the dates I started making plans, but this is ridiculous.

Just make a ticket price where people don't have to experience everything.

If you spend so much on travel / getting in it takes away from the money you can spend on art (since there will be no dealers).

You should consider going to LVCE, the Las Vegas Comic Expo.

www.lasvegascomicexpo.com

The price of admission is only

$20 per day in advance or $25 at the door if you decide to attend at the last minute.

$35 for a weekend pass in advance or $40 at the door

http://lasvegascomicexpo.com/tickets/

PLUS, if you are traveling and needed a hotel, the event is at the Alexis Park Resort and the LVCE is running a special, if you book a hotel room, you get admission ticket(s) to the show for FREE.

http://lasvegascomicexpo.com/hotel-reservation-free-tickets-offer/

The guest list for LVCE I'd say is comparable if not, in some fans opinions superrior to Morrison Con, in both the quality and quantity of comic book celebrities scheduled to appear.

Right now, LVCE has over 30 guests and rumor has it that there's a few blockbuster special annoucements pending on more high calibre guests scheduled to appear as well. I know the guys organizing this event, and they're putting their heart and soul into ensuring it's going to be a great experience for the guests, attending fans and the vendors alike.

The current guests attending LVCE includes:

ADAM HUGHES (since he's opting out of attending San Diego Comic Con, this might be his only appearance at a convention for 2012!)

DAVID FINCH

MIKE MIGNOLA

MARK BROOKS

J.G. JONES

...and many more well known comic book writers, artists, inkers and colorists

http://lasvegascomicexpo.com/guests/

The exhibiting vendor list, show activities, exclusive merchandise and event programming should be announced shortly as well, so the LVCE is providing a fan friendly traditional comic book convention at very affordable fan and family friendly pricing. Should have lots of great opportunities to interact with other fans, with the celebrity guests as well as shop around n' find deals or hard to find collectibles from vendors and pick up some cool merchandise as well.

Then, if you do some gambling while in Vegas n' win a jackpot from the slots or pull a royal flush on the tables, you can use $800 of your winnings to walk over to Morrison Con, pay to attend and have fun there too!

I wouldn't mind going to this, but the packages are just too damn steep. I wish they would just sell you regular admission tickets. I guess that's just the nature of this con, though...

Alexis Park Resort is an absolute dump, just a half step above a no tell motel.

A half a block away is a neat little boutique hotel called Rumours or you can stay at Hooters or a half dozen cheaper motels within walking distance.

Im hoping to make the show, but one night in Alexis a few years ago was more than enough for me. A drunken frat lad took a dump not five feet from my door. Dispite security responding quickly and more than a half dozen witnesses to it, he was allowed to go to his room and sleep it off. When we left to check out some twn hours later, it hadn't been cleaned.

If anyone I'm friendly is thinking of attending, I might have an extra room or two at the Grand Desert, about two hundred yards from Alexis.

PM me for details.
