How does OA get out?

3 posts in this topic

I have no experience I'm original art, but am curious as to how it gets out to the public.

Say an artist draws a comic and submits it to the publisher and the comic is made. After that, who keeps the artwork, the publisher or the artist?

If its the artist, I guess they can sell it and it gets out.

But if it's the publisher, dont they keep it in some archive somewhere? I guess I imagine Marvel or DC having a vast vault filled with original art from all their comics. Is that true?

Most art gets returned to the artists, who then either keep it, sell it themselves, or give it to a dealer to sell. A few publishers, such as Bongo Comics (publisher of the Simpson), keeps all the art.

I'd been wondering about Simpsons OA, thanks for solving that mystery!
