transporting your books

How do you transport your books without taking boxes. Say you wanted to bring only about 10 or so to... well anywhere, how would you carry them? In a regular bag, like a bookbag or duffel bag, or will that potentially damage them?

I lug a postal box around. I can fit up to about 20-30 unslabbed books in one, depending on the size, and can use a little bubble wrap for protection. It is an admittedly awkward approach to getting around the floor of a comic-con, but I haven't damaged any books by it.
