I had lunch and spent the whole day with the awesome Mark Millar, Leinil Yu, Gerry Alanguilan, and Sunny Gho. We talked about Mark and Leinil's future projects and I even got a bunch of cool sketches from Mark and Leinil.

 

And yeah, I asked Mark about it and he told me that yes, he licks goats!

Awesome guy really. Always smiling and almost always seem to have a crazy story to tell.

"As we drive through the sunny streets and they run through the TV channels we’re talking to tonight I glance out the window and see Millarworld banners hanging from the street lights all over the centre of town. This is clearly not going to be an ordinary signing. As somebody said when I sent them these pics, Manila had been turned into a terrifying, nearby parallel Earth where I had won World War 2."

Mall of Asia, nice. And last year when I was in Manila I bought the Avengers hardback and Siege hardbacks at that bookstore.

Ah. I was at that mall 2 months ago. I heard it's one of the biggest mall in Asia, but full of stores that a lot of Filipinos wouldn't walk into. But it's a good spot to hang out and chill near the ice skating rink.

 

Anyway, just talked to a friend who attended this event. He said that half of the crowd had no idea what was going on and who Millar was. But there's a stage, there's a line, a celebrity signing autograph. Deep into our convo, he said that comic collecting in the Philippines is tough coz even the average Filipino can't afford to keep up with the latest issue of a title, harder for a hardback, even harder for slabs. Raws are hard to keep fresh and mint coz of the humidity and weather. But those who are collecting are crossing their fingers that this Millar appearance will boost the hobby since he said they really hyped up this event with radio and tv commercials.
