Chris, I am in the pub right now with an old friend who happens to have that 'fist of Dredd' piece on his t-shirt. Small world huh?
Has this old friend seen DREDD yet?

Yep. His opinion concurs with mine. He also happens to be a regular 2000ad reviewer and aspiring creator. Had plenty to chat about!

And what about the waiters and waitresses at this pub. Have they seen Dredd yet, and have any feedback to share?

lol

True. I have been pleasantly surprised by how many American fans of the 2000AD there still are. The stories really work regardless of era or location.

The award for 'most embarrassingly stupid comment by a supposed film reviewer' for 2012 goes to:

Say whatever else you want about Sylvester Stallone's kitschy 1995 turn as futuristic comic-book judge-jury-executioner Judge Dredd, the dude wore the helmet. Karl Urban replaces him in the new "Dredd 3D." And frankly, the helmet wears Urban. He never takes off the oversized thing. It closes off his performance and masks his charisma. We see only his scowling jaw and hear his hissed one-liners,

This is akin to someone reviewing DKR and saying "Say whatever else you want about Robert Swenson's 1997 turn as inarticulate brute Bane, the dude wore that wrestling mask. Tom Hardy replaces him in the new movie, and portrays him as some sort of 'intellectual'!"

*sigh*
