Curious about how you all would grade this issue and then considerations for submitting to CGC? I'm still working on training myself to grade correctly so any insight would be appreciated.

 

Specifically I know on the back there is a small mark on the bottom edge and the left side of the cover in the back has started to flake a little. On the front the corners on the right side are very slightly bent but I'm not sure how much these imperfections (and the others I'm sure I'm missing) affect the grade.

Because of the Back cover bottom edge problems I think the highest you will get is a 7.5 .

This is what I get for getting it without a scan of the back cover...

 

Anyone else want to chime in or is 7.5 what I'm looking at here?

What's going on at the bottom back cover? Is that a chip or a stain?

It is a stain. Either way it sounds like this is far from the VF/NM it was advertised as. I'm going to have to write someone a strongly worded letter!

+1 I'm with Oak on this book. BC has to much going on.

Definitely no 9.0, but this happens when you're not familiar with grading; I've been burned for sure before I really started learning the ropes. I was thinking about a 6.5 before seeing the grades posted above, which fits in the mold from the others.

It looks like even if it was simply a chip it would still put me down in the 7 range which is lower than what I was looking for so I'll be returning this one and keep on hunting.
