If you want to see it that way (and that way alone), I can’t change your mind, but I assure you I have seen great (or good) offers go unclaimed, some of which I would have picked myself but as I said… there’s the ocean in-between.

Agreed. A lot of it is just timing - the right person didn't see it in time. Sometimes good stuff just sits there for whatever reason, and sometimes people swoop right in and scoop it up. It's hard not to take it personally, though, so I understand.
