I just started reading DMZ and so far it is pretty good. Preacher speaks for itself but I am not for sure what Scalped is.

Scalped was written by Jason Aaron (Wolverine and the X-Men, Eisner nominated The Other Side, Thor: God of Thunder,PunisherMax). The series focuses on the Oglala Lakota inhabitants of the fictional Prairie Rose Indian Reservation in modern-day South Dakota as they grapple with organized crime, rampant poverty, drug addiction and alcoholism, local politics and the preservation of their cultural identity.

 

While I have never read Scalped, it has received a lot of acclaim. Jason Aaron is such an amazing writer that I will read anything from him, sight unseen.

Curious that you say this – the only thing I have browsed/read from him were some Wolverine issues, and they appeared really poor to me (both in scope and content). Maybe some of these new "independent" writers work better on their own stuff, but again it was the underlying philosophical framework in the Wolverine stories which I’d found really poor.

Aaron is really stellar. Scalped and The Other Side (his two indy books) are so, so good. Also, Wolverine and the X-Men and Thor God of Thunder are two of my favorite Marvel books.

 

Can't wait for Southern Bastards. Anyone see the preview in...Previews?
