Your at your LCS. Its weds and comics just came out so you are now staring at 100 issues of Xmen or Walking dead.

 

How do you go about eliminating and finding that perfect 9.8+ cover?

What minor defects do you look for that you know will likely drop it to 9.6?

I find that so many of them usually already have a spine tick/dent or crease that I first scan through them looking for 1 or a group with out a dent in the spine. Then if I do find one or more than one I look for ones with sharp corners and no bindery tears on the spine.
