So over in the sales thread I see this:

I love the mini reproduction of The Submariner & The Angel #1 in the bottom corner.

 

Was this a frequent advertising tactic?

 

I see 4 or 5 Marvel Mysteries that did this, but did it happen elsewhere during that time at marvel?

I think timely was doing this around that time to advertise their 3 main titles, MMC, Human Torch, Sub Mariner. I've seen these ads on all three titles but don't remember seeing them on any other timely books or any other books from other publishers. I don't recall seeing them on any Captain America books but i could be mistaken.
