Maybe it's just me, but it looks like it might have been trimmed? I've just never seen a wrap like this.

 

I'd venture around a 7.5/ 8.0 if it's not because of the rips on the BC and the staple areas.

Sorry to say, but I thought that too. The opening edge of the cover looks very funky.

7.0 There's some hard to see wear at the staples. The top one looks almost detached. Am I right?

 

Unfortunately, it does look trimmed...

I understand the temptation to classify it as trimmed, but don't think that's the case here. Keeping in mind it's a Canadian EC, it looks like a slight miscut, and really pretty well-preserved. About a F/VF I think.

 

Most trim jobs done after the fact would actually appear better than this; think "too good to be true" when looking at a glance, at the top edge of a book, that presents like a Gaines File Copy until you notice that cover and edges were all planed off together neatly.

 

Overall, this looks about par for the course with some Canadian reprints of the time.
