Maybe it's just me, but it looks like it might have been trimmed?

Sorry to say, but I thought that too. The opening edge of the cover looks very funky.

I understand the temptation to classify it as trimmed, but don't think that's the case here. Keeping in mind it's a Canadian EC, it looks like a slight miscut, and really pretty well-preserved. About a F/VF I think.

 

Most trim jobs done after the fact would actually appear better than this; think "too good to be true" when looking at a glance, at the top edge of a book, that presents like a Gaines File Copy until you notice that cover and edges were all planed off together neatly.

 

Overall, this looks about par for the course with some Canadian reprints of the time.
