She would've been second rate or worse.  No Julie Newmar, in my completely biased opinion.

Yeah, she started out so promising as a replicant (spoiler?), did a really sexy role No Way Out (Bening was sexier in The Grifters) and if she died tomorrow she will be best remembered for her Catwoman 'meltdown' on Joan Rivers or Letterman or her role in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

 

She was originally cast as Vicki Vale in the 1989 original Batman, but was replaced by Basinger after she broke her arm. It kinda makes her less bat-sp00n crazy when that fact is revealed.
