Spider-Man the Musical w. music by U2?!

This is on IMDB today (7/8/04):

 

"COMING SOON: SPIDER-MAN: THE MUSICAL

Producer Tony Adams, a longtime associate of producer-writer-director Blake Edwards in such films as the Pink Panther movies, 10, and Victor/Victoria, is planning to bring Spider-Man to Broadway in a musical. Citing sources close to the project, Daily Variety reported today (Thursday) that plans call for the musical to be written by Neil Jordan (Mona Lisa, The Crying Game, Interview with the Vampire) and directed by Julie Taymor, who translated Disney's The Lion King to the stage. The songwriters are likely to be the U2's Bono and The Edge (David Evans)."

 

Turning Spider-Man into a musical reminds me of the following web site (funny and safe for work):

Not so sure if ol' Spidey would have the legs to make it on Broadway.... but it does has Operatic undetones.. tragedy..loss... suffering.. love..a hero...a villan ... and there are more then enough gay guys on Broadway who would kill to wear those tights..so who's to say?

 

I still think Planet of The Apes would have worked as a Musical....

The Simpsons spoof is actually not bad as it is....

Actually, there already is a Spider-Man musical, as anyone who has visited Universal Studios Hollywood can tell you...

Not many things more painful than watching Mary Jane sing "Holding Out For A Hero" as she's attacked by Thug Dancer #1 and 2.
