Boardies thoughts on authenticity of a Kirby Sig?

Hey guys,

 

Seller thinks it's legit. I agree. But I wanted to get every ones thoughts on it. I am by far not the expert on Kirby sigs, and some of you are infinitely more knowledgeable then myself!

the looped K was always my concern, but as I search thru google images I do see the occasional looped K (though it is super infrequent)

It's not even close to every other one I've seen.

 

It's been consistent on most books, and pieces of artwork, that I've seen over the years.

I have my doubts. The "J" is off and it was really unusual to have someone sign a cover before the days of CGC SS.

The looping K, do we know he ever did his name that way?

Yea really the only thing that bothers me so far is the J. It should be curving out a little. On yours it doesn't do that

 

Of course that doesn't make it a fake. It could be just be (like I said) a sloppy sig

It's possible that it was signed in his later years which could account for the differences but there's no way to tell for certain.

If it's real, it's sloppy, and it's so far removed from his standard and recognized signature that it adds no value to that book any more than anyone else scribbling their name on it would.

 

I could see someone throwing an extra couple of bucks at a book with a Kirby sig that looked like the sig I have seen on dozens of books and pieces of artwork but there's no premium to be had on something that looks like this with no authentication.
