Really?

IMO he is the worst.

He looks nothing like Wolverine.

He is the Twilight version.

:o

You better take that back or else :sumo:

Or else what?

Or else she'll FedEx you a box of poop wrapped up as an Xmas gift?

Like I don't get that every year.

:eyeroll:

And not restricted to only Xmas time I'm sure. :baiting:

Only if I were buying books from you.

I still believe that Buck Kartilian who played Dynamite in Cool Hand Luke is one of the best people to have been cast at Wolverine...to bad he was already about 50 by the time the character was created. If you watch Cool Hand Luke you will see it. There are no good screen shots of him in that film and I don't own the film. If you check the small pictures on the side of his site you can see one from Luke and one from his body building days. In Cool Hand he's short, jacked, hairy, and old enough to playing a grizzled Wolverine. http://www.buckkartalian.com/

So has anyone noticed any run on Uncanny 141-2 because of this?

Yes, I've had people asking after both issues and GPA shows a rise in value, particularly with # 141.

Wolverine or Puck. They're both the same.

If they made Wolverine the same size as the comics we would have wound up with your choice of

#1

Dink.jpg

#2

Devito.jpg

or Door #3

I disagree.

Physically, Wolverine is supposed to be 5'3".

The complaint was Jackman doesn't "look" anything like Wolverine. You'd have to find a diminutive actor if "looks" are the most important thing. That's what I was referring to if looks are more important than anything else.

Russell Crowe is only a couple inches shorter than Jackman. Both of them are WAY too tall physically for the role.

5'4" but lets not split hairs. Being too tall is one thing, being way too handsome is another. Crowe is a lot more rugged looking than Jackman. Gary Sinise is 5'7" and I think he might have been able to pull off the role.

Since scum-bum Bryan Singer is doing this the movie has to #1 be a POS, and #2 unless this movie has hunted down mutants, FUTURE old wolverine (maybe sprinkle a little Bishop for good measure), and Sentinels then why is this movie going to be good?

Nice title of the movie that will have nothing to do with what fans come to expect. Excellent work powers that be!

If the movie has nothing to do with the images below how can any X-men fan even give two spoon about this movie?

I want Wolverine blow away by a Sentinel already! rantrant

So what's the scoop for the interweb-lazy like me? How do we know they aren't basing the show on the storyline from the comic?

He's just expressing his opinion that the film will not resemble the comics.

He may be right but since very little info has been released on the upcoming film, there is no way of knowing what similarities or differences there will be.

X-MEN 1&2, Superman Returns...that's what's wrong with him. Apt Pupil was OK.

At the time, I think X-Men 1 and 2 were big influences on the film industry in regards to comic movies. Even though they played fast and loose with the stories, presumably it was to make them more audience-friendly, which translated into lots of money, which then led to studios looking more towards comic movies.

By the time Superman Returns hit in 2006, Singer's abilities (or lack of) really showed. I don't think he's very good, either - but I think his contributions on the X films happened at the right time, with the right effect and benefitted the comic industry.

As long as X-Men stays at Fox, I'm not real sure they are going to do anything too amazing, regardless of director.

I don't know how much it benefited the comics industry. The main reason cited for Bob Harras leaving / getting fired from Marvel was for his inability to capitalize on the success of the X-MEN movie. (shrug)

I'm not sure where that's cited, but I'm not convinced that's an accurate assesment, based on sales figures for Marvel.

In July of 2000 when X-Men came out, 3 of the top 5 selling comics were Mutie titles, accounting for 311,000 book sales. Six months later in December of 2000 4 of the top 5 selling titles were mutant titles and accounted for 400,000 book sales. The same time a year later in July of 2001 the top five selling books were all X-titles and accounted for 581,000 in book sales, and a huge surge overall in the comics industry as a whole (based on their sales from the site).

I'm sure there's some details I'm missing, but that pretty much paints a picture that the movies helped the comic industry, unless someone has another significant event that would have catapulted the X-titles into the top selling comics in the entire industry during that one year period and beyond. X-Men was a $300 million dollar film, which was huge money at the time. It brought a lot of people into comics, that's for sure.
