Removing the digital code in Marvel comic books.

As this is becoming commonplace, how will a comic, say Spider-Man 700 or any recent Marvel fare when graded, without the sticker for the digital code in place? I say it will be just like the Marvel Value Stamp from the 70's, an incomplete book. Others believe it will not affect the grade. What say you!

Personally, I would not consider the book "incomplete" without the sticker. I'm not sure how CGC would grade this though.

I've never removed one, is it a sticker with adhesive? Or more of a cling film?

How about if the sticker is still clinging on to the book? Code is used but sticker not fully removed?

Tried searching on Ebay, but can find no mention of a Marvel code book with or without code, although some have been graded, according to the census. I would like to see if they say either 'code intact' or 'code missng'.

Why peel them at all? You can shine a light through them and read the code without peeling the sticker.

I'm sure most hardcore collectors would probably favor the intact sticker. It would be interesting to see some comparable sales for books with and without the sticker. Either way, I believe the coupon expires at some point.

I'm not sure how it would affect a grade in the future, but personally, I would rather have one with it than one without.

I emailed CGC today, and recieved this response:

 

"Peeling the sticker will limit the book to a 9.8 as the best grade and will be noted on the label, but will not be treated as a defect"
